Getting started

WikiCards turns Wikipedia into a trading card game. Every article is a card, and the more people read an article, the rarer its card. Collect them, sell them, and trade them with your friends.

Sign in with Google or your email (we send you a code, no password), then pick a username.
Open your 5 free packs on the Packs page. A new one arrives every 10 minutes.
Check your cards in your Inventory. Click any card to read its article and see what it sells for.
Sell, bid and trade in the Auction house, or with your Friends.

You start with 0 WIKI to spend at auction.

Cards and rarities

There are two sets. Each has its own packs:

Wikipedia Set: every article on English Wikipedia, 6,721,786 cards. Rarity comes from how many people read the article last month.
Crypto Set: 794 cards about crypto people, projects, events and technology. Rarity comes from a year of reads, weighted by how central the article is to crypto.

Uncommon

Common

A card can exist in many copies. Each copy has a serial number in the order it was pulled: the first Bitcoin ever opened is Bitcoin #1. Browse every card in the Catalog.

Booster packs

Packs are free, and each one holds 5 cards.
You start with 5. One more arrives every 10 minutes, up to a stack of 10. When your stack is full, the timer waits until you open one.
Every card in a pack rolls its rarity on its own, with these odds:

Cards are drawn on our server with a secure random generator, and the animation only reveals them.

Your collection

Your Inventory groups your copies by card, rarest first. Duplicates show as ×2, ×3… Click a card to see:

its Wikipedia introduction,
its serial numbers,
what it sells for,
a button to sell it at auction,
a Quick sell button.

Quick sell

Don't want a card? Quick sell it to the bank for 1 WIKI, from the card window or right after opening a pack (one card, or Quick sell all). You're always asked to confirm first, and a sold card can't be recovered. Your highest-numbered copy is sold first. Cards at auction or in a trade offer can't be quick sold. To sell many at once, use Select in your inventory: tap cards or use Select all with a filter (for example all Commons), and tick Keep one of each to sell only duplicates.

Auction house

Selling

Pick a copy, a starting bid and a duration: 10 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 3 hrs, 6 hrs, 12 hrs.
The starting bid is suggested from the card's recent sales, or its rarity's, or else from a default price: Common 10, Uncommon 25, Rare 75, Super Rare 200, Ultra Rare 600, Legendary 2,000 WIKI.
You can cancel a listing as long as nobody has bid.
When time runs out, the card goes to the highest bidder and you get the WIKI. With no bids, the card comes back to you.

Bidding

Each bid must beat the current one by at least 10%.
Your WIKI are held as soon as you bid. If someone outbids you, you get them back right away.
No sniping: a bid in the last 10 seconds resets the timer to 1 minute, so everyone gets a chance to answer.

Use Live for every running auction, Selling for yours and Bidding for the ones you're in. You can search by card title or description, filter by set and rarity, and sort by ending soon, newest or price.

Want a specific card? Open it and turn on Alert me when listed. You'll get a notification every time someone puts it up for auction.

Friends

Add friends by username on the Friends page. If you both send a request, you're friends right away.
Friends can message each other and trade, and can see each other's cards.
A green dot means your friend was active in the last 2 minutes.
Removing a friend cancels any pending trades between you.

Trades

You can only trade with friends.
On the Trades page, pick cards and WIKI from your side and theirs, up to 10 cards per side, and add a message.
Your friend can accept or decline, and you can cancel while they decide. Offers expire after 7 days.
When a trade is accepted, everything is checked again and swapped at once: both of you still own the cards, none is at auction, and both have the WIKI. Either the whole trade happens or nothing moves.

Chat

Open the chat with the tab on the right edge of the screen.

# Global: talk with everyone.
# Trade: looking for a card, or offering one.
Friends: private messages, with a badge for unread ones.

Messages are limited to 500 characters, and 5 messages every 10 seconds.

Bank

The Bank connects the game to the $WIKI token on Solana. Your WIKI balance in the game and $WIKI tokens are exchanged 1 for 1, in both directions, on the Bank page.

Where the tokens are

100,000,000 $WIKI, 10% of the supply, are set aside for the Bank. They pay for withdrawals, so every WIKI you earn in the game can leave as a real token. They're split between two wallets:

Hot wallet: online, used by the game every day. Deposits arrive here, withdrawals are paid from here, and it holds a little SOL to pay network fees.
Cold wallet: the reserve. Its keys are kept offline and never touch the game's servers. It tops up the hot wallet when needed.

Keeping most of the tokens in the cold wallet protects them: even if something went wrong with the game's servers, only the hot wallet's working balance could be affected. Both wallets are public: their addresses and balances are shown at the top of the Bank page, and you can check them on Solscan anytime.

Depositing $WIKI

Your own address. The Bank page shows a deposit address (and QR code) that belongs to your account only, so every token sent there is credited to you.
Send $WIKI on Solana from any wallet or exchange. Only send $WIKI: anything else sent there isn't credited.
The Bank moves it to the hot wallet. A few seconds after your transfer, the tokens are moved from your deposit address to the hot wallet. The Bank pays that network fee.
Your balance goes up. Once the move is final on the blockchain (usually under a minute), the WIKI are added to your balance and you get a notification.

Whole tokens are credited. A fraction (say 0.5 $WIKI) waits at your deposit address until it adds up to a whole token.

Withdrawing WIKI

Ask. Enter an amount (at least 100 WIKI) and your Solana wallet address, and confirm. The WIKI leave your balance right away and are held for this withdrawal.
Check. Withdrawals under 20,000 WIKI are sent automatically. Larger ones, or several that add up to 20,000 in 24 hours, are checked by our team first, as are accounts linked to other accounts (to stop one person farming with many).
Sent. The hot wallet sends the $WIKI to your wallet, and you get a notification with a link to the transaction. The Bank pays the network fee, and creates your wallet's $WIKI account if it doesn't have one yet.

While a withdrawal waits for review, you can cancel it and get your WIKI back. If our team declines it, the WIKI come back too, with the reason. Double-check your address: tokens sent to a wrong address can't be recovered.

Where new $WIKI comes from

The Bank starts with its 100,000,000 $WIKI and grows with every deposit. On top of that, the buyback flywheel: dev fees are used to buy $WIKI on the market, and the tokens bought go back into the Bank's treasury.

Check it yourself

At the bottom of the Bank page, the transaction history lists every deposit and payout on WikiCards, each with a link to its transaction on Solscan. No usernames are shown.

$WIKI is a token on Solana. Its price can go up or down, and nothing here is financial advice.

Notifications

The bell at the top of the page tells you when:

someone outbids you (your WIKI are already back),
your auction sells, you win one, or your auction ends without bids,
a card you're watching is listed,
someone sends you a friend request, or accepts yours,
you receive a trade offer, or yours is accepted or declined,
a deposit arrives, or a withdrawal is sent or declined.

Questions

Why is this card Legendary?: Rarity follows reading: the 5,000 most-read articles are Legendary, and the least-read ones are Common. A viral article can be Legendary.
Where do the pictures and texts come from?: From Wikipedia: the article's title, short description and lead image. Articles without a lead image show their initials.
Can a card's rarity change?: The set may be refreshed with newer reading numbers. Copies you already own keep the rarity they were pulled with.
My pack timer reached 0 but I can't open.: Give it a couple of seconds: the page checks with the server until the new pack is there.
Can I buy WIKI or packs?: Packs are free. You earn WIKI by selling cards, or you can deposit WIKI tokens in the Bank.
